Rotary Clubs of Mississauga
in support of Trillium Health Partners'
future home of The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital

In the next 20 years, no other hospital in Ontario will need more services than Trillium Health Partners (THP). THP is embarking on the largest health care redevelopment project in Canadian history and there couldn't be a more important time or project that will fundamentally change health care, than building Canada’s largest hospital the future home of The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital. This project will result in substantially improving the health care system in our region. We need your help to shape the future of health care in this community.

The Story
In December 2021, members of the Rotary Club of Mississauga attended the Eden Food Bank Breakfast fundraiser. During the breakfast, Hazel McCallion spoke to the over 500 attendees. She talked about the new 22-storey State-of-the-Art Hospital that was being built in the City of Mississauga. In her address, she said "Wouldn't it be great if every person in the City of Mississauga could contribute $10 toward this new hospital". Every person in the city would feel like they are a part of this great new facility.
Ladder
The Challenge - $10.00 Per Person
The Rotary Club of Mississauga President at that time was moved by Hazel's words. As Rotary is a not-for-profit community-focused organization dedicated to creating positive change locally and globally she felt that this was an incredible opportunity for us to help to mobilize the residents of Mississauga from the community level. The Rotary Clubs of Mississauga have joined forces and embarked on a program to challenge each resident in the City of Mississauga to donate $10 to Trillium Health Partners’ future home of The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital. Funds raised through this challenge will help support the purchase of life saving equipment.
Target
The GOAL - $7.8 Million
With a population of approximately 780,000 multiplied by the $10, we hope to raise $7.8 million.

LEADING EDGE LIFE SAVING EQUIPMENT

As Mississauga's diverse population grows and ages, the equipment and technology required to support the needs of the community must be regularly brought up to-date. In the hands of skilled health care workers, this equipment will lead to faster, more accurate and more innovative care that improves patient outcomes and decreases wait times throughout the entire hospital. The $7.8 million raised through community support will fund the purchase of critical equipment such as:

1

ROTARY CLUBS OF MISSISSAUGA

What is Rotary?

Rotary is an international membership organization made up of people who share a passion for and commitment to enhancing communities and improving lives across the world. Rotary clubs exist in almost every country. Our members change lives locally and connect with other clubs to work on international projects that address today’s most pressing challenges.

Being a member is an opportunity to take action and make a difference, and it brings personal rewards and lifelong friendships in the process. The causes we target to maximize our impact are called our areas of focus. Our most successful and sustainable projects and activities fall within these areas.

How is Rotary Structured?

The club is the most important component of Rotary’s organizational structure. Each Rotary club is considered a member of Rotary International. There are more than 1.2 million Rotary club members, or Rotarians around the world who belong to clubs. There are over 35,000 Rotary clubs grouped into about 530 districts. These districts are organized into 34 regional zones.

The first Rotary Club was started in Chicago, Illinois, USA in 1905 by an Attorney named Paul Harris. Harris wanted to bring together a group of professionals with different backgrounds and skills to exchange ideas and form meaningful acquaintances.

Rotary Principles

Rotary was founded on principles that remain at the heart of the organization today. These principles reflect our core values integrity, diversity, service, leadership and fellowship or friendship.

We channel our commitment to service through five areas of Service, which are the foundation of our club activity: Club Service, Vocational Service, Community Service, International Service and Youth Services.
