A Notice to Our Constituents

On July 16, 2020, Blackbaud, Inc (“Blackbaud”) a software provider for Trillium Health Partners Foundation, notified us that they had discovered and stopped a ransomware attack on their systems in May 2020. This security incident impacted many of  Blackbaud’s clients around the world, including Trillium Health Partners Foundation (“the Foundation”).

Blackbaud is one of the world’s largest software technology providers and serves thousands of charities and nonprofits.  The Foundation uses Blackbaud software to manage constituent and organization data and to communicate with members of its community. The data affected by this incident may have included constituents’ names, addresses, contact details, giving history and information about their engagement with the Foundation.

Blackbaud has assured the Foundation that no financial information (debit card, credit card, or banking information) or passwords were compromised during this security incident.  In addition, we can assure you that no hospital patient records are stored on the Foundation’s database.

Based on Blackbaud’s investigation, which involved law enforcement officials and independent forensic experts, Blackbaud has confirmed that the security incident was contained, and no data was misused or disseminated. They have assured us that the system vulnerability related to this incident has been addressed and that they have undertaken additional measures to protect all data.  Additional information about this security incident is available on Blackbaud’s website: https://www.blackbaud.com/securityincident.

The Foundation takes the privacy and the security of its constituent information very seriously.  To honor the trust our community has placed in us and in an abundance of caution, we are proactively informing you about this incident.  We continue to investigate the matter.  Rest assured that we will continue to work with Blackbaud and our own cyber security experts to help to keep your information safe and secure.
