On behalf of all of us at Trillium Health Partners Foundation, thank you for supporting Trillium Health Partners (THP) during the COVID-19 health crisis.

Your donations, gifts of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), food and other items, and words of encouragement have truly made a difference to our staff and patients.

Our President and CEO, Caroline Riseboro, has a thank you message to share with all of you.

Your support by the numbers

Over $5 million has been raised toward our COVID-19 response

372 donors
have contributed Personal Protective Equipment (masks, gloves, etc.)

We have welcomed over 2,500 new donors to our Trillium Health Partners Foundation family of supporters

Thanks to local companies and businesses, we have distributed 75 meals and other food / non-perishable items to each of our 10,000+ staff

Thanks to you, we are helping our hospital
in the fight against COVID-19

For the past few months, THP has been on the front lines of care, responding to the COVID-19 crisis.

From the beginning, our hospital leaders have been focused on making sure that we would be ready for COVID-19 patients, and that our health care teams would continue to feel safe and supported as they care for our community. With your support, we have been able to provide our hospital with the funds and items needed to be able to respond quickly to both of these priorities.

We are pleased to share how your generosity has impacted our hospital:

Equipping our health care teams with the tools needed to provide exceptional care

In preparation for the arrival of patients needing hospital care for COVID-19, THP implemented a carefully phased plan that would help increase capacity within the hospital while separating COVID from non-COVID patients.
Your support helped us purchase equipment and supplies needed to meet the patient demand, including items like protective clothing, laboratory equipment for in-house testing, and ventilators.

Creating new ways of delivering care through innovation

THP created an Airway Team that is solely dedicated to manage patient intubations. Believed to be the first of its kind in the GTA, the team is led by an Airway Specialist and on call 24/7 to respond to patient needs. With this team in place, we are able to intubate critically ill patients efficiently and safely, while minimizing risk to others.
Your generosity has helped equip them with the tools needed to carry out this important but risky procedure.

Providing virtual care that centres around our patients’ needs

In March, we closed 150 on-site ambulatory clinics and introduced virtual clinics for a number of patients, including those who have been recently discharged and require follow-up care.
Donor support has contributed to the set-up of these clinics, enabling patients to access care from the comfort of their own home. This has helped reduce patient volumes at the hospital, while increasing capacity for those who may need a more acute level of care.

Maintaining an appropriate supply of PPE and other items

Thank you to the members of our community who donated items of PPE such as  masks, gloves, hand sanitizer/disinfectant and other items to help protect our staff and patients. With your support, we were able to ensure that we maintained our supplies of PPE while continuing to care  for our patients.

We have also received donations of electronics, including 3D printers to make our own face shields, and baby monitors, which allow health care workers to communicate with patients at a safe distance and limit unnecessary contact and the use of additional PPE.

Distributing meals with the help of our generous community

Our health care teams have been working around the clock and do not always have the time to pack a meal or pick something up during their shift.
We have had an outpouring of support from several businesses in our community who have donated meals and snacks for our 10,000+ staff to help keep their energy up as they continue to care for our patients.

Saying thank you with coffee and treats

Thanks to a number of donors, we have been able to provide staff and health care workers with complimentary coffee and treats on select coffee appreciation days. These coffee days have been a welcome and much needed treat for our staff, helping to keep their spirits up throughout the day.

In the media: Connecting patients with their families

With COVID-19 preventing patients from being able to see their family members, our health care workers are going above and beyond to turn a difficult situation into a positive one. The Toronto Star recently profiled Paul Marek, a nurse in the ICU at our Mississauga Hospital site, and shared how he was able to use FaceTime to connect a patient recovering from brain surgery with his loved ones.

Donor support has allowed us to purchase iPads for use throughout the hospital, making it easier for our health care teams to connect patients with family members during their stay.

Standing by our health care teams

We are grateful to you and so many other members of our community for supporting our frontline health care workers with your generosity, gestures of appreciation and words of encouragement. These simple acts of kindness have meant so much to everyone within the Trillium Health Partners family.

Thank you for standing with us during this unprecedented time!
