Nacora’s Mud Run Campaign is Near and Dear
For the third consecutive year, Dianna Fioravanti and her team are preparing to tackle the Mud Hero obstacle course on August 25 to support the Perinatal Bereavement Program at Trillium Health Partners.
To get participants into the theme of the event from the very beginning of the obstacle course, a slide dunks them into water and mud. After that, there are 30-foot-high monkey bars and a wall to scale, all covered in slippery mud. Sound like fun? Well, according to Dianna, it’s fun with benefits.
Dianna is the CEO of Nacora International Insurance Brokers in Mississauga, and along with her employees, they have raised over $37,000 of their $50,000 goal for a cause that is close to home in more ways than one.
Around the time Dianna was talking to our Foundation about fundraising opportunities, one of her employees was dealing with the traumatic experience of losing a baby. Others were struggling with what to say, and this started a conversation. It emerged that several employees had also lost babies and never talked about it, and this gave them an opportunity to share their stories—bringing everyone together.
The Perinatal Bereavement Program became the obvious choice to support women and their families with essential care and healing during such a difficult time.
“Trillium has been a great partner for us, and their guest speakers have explained how the funds raised will benefit others,” says Dianna. “It’s really important for organizations to give back to the community they operate in because if it wasn’t for this community, we wouldn’t be in business.”
“It’s also great for morale. Staff get out together, and it creates a positive atmosphere and a sense of accomplishment.”
For this year’s event, twenty employees are registered to run, with more attending to hand out water and cheer them on.
“You find mud all over your body over the next couple of days,” says Dianna with a smile. “But it’s a nice reminder of what we’re doing.”
The majority of funds Nacora has raised online has been through the Foundation’s do-it-yourself fundraising pages. Whether you’re registering your team in a Mud Hero event or organizing an internal fundraiser at the office, start planning this today with our easy-to-use fundraising platform.
