We are very excited to be marking two major milestones at Trillium Health Partners as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of our Credit Valley Hospital site and the 10th anniversary of the Carlo Fidani Regional Cancer Centre.
In 1974, our former mayor, Hazel McCallion gathered community leaders around her kitchen table to lay out their vision and plan for a new hospital in Mississauga. That vision was realized on November 5th, 1985 with the grand opening and the arrival of the first official patients. Today, as a cornerstone of Trillium Health Partners, Credit Valley Hospital is integral to the health and well-being of our community.
What began as a small community hospital built in the middle of a potato field on Eglinton Avenue is now a world-class health care facility with over 745,000 patients receiving the highest quality of care each year.
Over the past 30 years, our Credit Valley Hospital has grown alongside our community, expanding to become a regional centre of excellence in cancer care, women’s and children’s health and clinical genetics, in addition to core community hospital clinical programs.
In 2005, the doors to the Carlo Fidani Regional Cancer Centre opened at Credit Valley Hospital, improving access for patients with cancer to receive personalized and compassionate care for the first time in their own community. Since then, it has become a beacon of hope for our patients as they navigate their cancer journey, marking its 10th anniversary earlier this year.
While we fondly look back on the last 30 years and what Credit Valley Hospital has meant to our community, we are also excited about the next phase of redevelopment that will help us meet the needs of our diverse and growing community. Help us build our community’s future, donate today!
