Scotiabank Skates reaches fundraising goal

After a weekend of hockey and family fun, we are proud to announce that Scotiabank Skates reached their $1 million fundraising goal over five years. The weekend-long event supports diagnostic imaging at both Trillium Health Partners and Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

The three-day, hockey-themed skating event featured a men’s hockey tournament, youth and women’s skills clinic, topped off with a free family skate.

Even some friendly competition took place as clinic participants battled each other out in a 20-minute scrimmage, and Olympic Gold Medalist Cheryl Pounder joined participants for a 40-minute skills session, where she shared some expert hockey tips and tricks.

Funds raised this year will go towards advancing equipment within our hospital’s Diagnostic Imaging department, including a new ultrasound machine at Mississauga Hospital.

Did you know that 41 per cent of patients who come to Trillium Health Partners receive some form of diagnostic imaging as part of their health care journey.

There is a continuous need to replace our equipment, including CTs, ultrasound and x-ray machines. With an anticipated 63 per cent increase in Mississauga’s population over the next 20 years, keeping up with the growing demand, while ensuring our diagnostic imaging equipment remains state-of-the-art, is a priority.

With your support, patients in our community will continue to have access to the latest technology to support exceptional patient care.
