Pamela’s meaningful volunteering for Trillium Health Partners Foundation began over a simple morning cup of coffee.
It happened like this. Pamela had been retired from Hydro One for about a year and felt she had too much time on her hands. She had wanted something to do, something to be a part of. But what?
That cup of coffee one morning with the Mississauga News provided the answer. Pamela discovered an advertisement from THPF asking for volunteers. But she had never really seen herself as a volunteer. Could her skills really be of value to the hospital, she wondered.
It turned out that at the time Pamela was just what we were looking for in a volunteer. What we look for in all of our volunteers—a generosity of spirit and willingness to help.
Over the past nine years, Pamela has faithfully given a half day per week helping out with various administrative office duties— filing, opening mail, data entry, and helping to get tax receipts out promptly to our donors.
It makes a difference. Every time our volunteers—like Pamela—give of their time, it allows us to reduce our costs so that we can support the hospital more efficiently.
Our volunteers make us stronger—whether in our offices, at a registration desk, or a signature event. All for greater community health care.
Thank you, Pamela. Thank you to the over 2,000 volunteers who enable THP to provide exceptional patient experiences every day at our three hospital sites.
Happy National Volunteer Week!
