Scotiabank Better Together Bed Race raises $130,000 for Trillium Health Partners

MISSISSAUGA – Thousands gathered at Mississauga Celebration Square to cheer on their community as teams battled each other to the finish line for the coveted Golden Bed Pan Trophy at the Scotiabank Better Together Bed Race. The event raised $130,000 for Trillium Health Partners on Sunday, June 4.

“Our community members are incredible champions of our hospital with their continuous generosity, helping to provide essential care for the over 1.6 million annual patient visits Trillium Health Partners receives and the 2.4 million we serve in our community,” says Steve Hoscheit, President & CEO, Trillium Health Partners Foundation. “It’s such an inspiration to come together to rally behind an important cause. This event is another great example of our community’s commitment to helping our hospital create a new kind of health care for a healthier community. Special thanks to all of our sponsors and supporters, and to Scotiabank for being our partner sponsor for the fifth year in a row.”

Community members enjoyed a BBQ lunch, hosted by Scarlett House Catering and Pizza Pizza, as they watched dancers and live music on the main stage with games for the whole family in the Square. Singer/songwriter Michael Theodore returned to emcee and Gord Deppe, frontman of Canadian band The Spoons, made a special guest appearance on stage to perform with house band, The Material Men.

Funds raised will support Trillium Health Partners’ My Hospital Fund – which represents seven core hospital programs that enable care across the entire clinical platform – Emergency Medicine, Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Laboratory, Genetics, Pharmacy and Medicine. These services are vital to ensuring that everyone in our community can access the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
